Celebrity Beyond
MODE wants to take the "In Between" moments BEYOND, transforming space into CONNECTIONThe Ask
3 Curtain Packages "Not your ordinary curtain"
MODE thinks: These are more than a portal, or something to hide behind. These are active, fully immersive preshow experiences that conclude with dramatic reveals amplified by building anticipation
6 "Something Spectacular" Interstitial Experiences
MODE thinks: We create full experiences that are participatory and interactive. They tell their own stories, and weave into larger shipwide themes. They create a compulsion to share via social media
10 Performance Backdrops "The Scenic Location For Guest Entertainers"
MODE thinks: Subtly activated, thematically diversified, on brand and on demographic. They’ll be gorgeous, they’ll be alive, and they won’t be the star of the show
1 Corporate Background Package
MODE thinks: Elegant. Clean. Activated. The perfect expression of “The Room Where It Happens”. This is a setting that projects thoughtful design and a brave space for ideas into action
Big Idea
The concepts in development for Celebrity Beyond are envisioned to be simultaneously realized on each of the screens onboard, engaging passengers in a variety of ways, based on the screen’s location and function. A pre-show vignette can become a spectacular interactive experience in the theater during the day, while aspects of the fully realized visuals for the theater screen can be isolated for Instagrammable moments on the screen of the Roof Deck Garden, or mashed up with other content for the Club screens. Our goal is to create a world of immersion, and an experience of the possibility of what lies Beyond for passengers.

Behind The Scenes
Imagine the mayhem and glory of the Golden Age of Hollywood sound stages merged with tech forward sleight of hand animation, surprising plot twists, an original film score, and extraordinary use of the screen, its portals, the lighting package and its tricks, combined with site specific sound design, all happening BEFORE the digital “curtain” rises on the evening’s entertainment. For Celebrity Beyond, we will create three original 30 minute films that can be fitted for use as presentational pre-show curtain content for incoming and seated audiences, or for Something Spectacular with an interactive element for passengers happening into the theater.
A shadowplay ? Or a play happening in the shadows ?
Picture three different “30 minutes to curtain” stories, aligned with the nature of the live show they precede, told in film and shadow that include all the backstage mayhem and characters one might expect and then some – getting ready for the Big Show that night – depicted on the screen via shadow play, combined with surprise breaks through that shadow scrim to appear “live” to the incoming audience, with a final, dramatic reveal of the performance backdrop using all necessary panel and door movements, as required by the live show specifications for that evening. Using filmed live action and animation for an unprecedented and unforgettable theatrical experience, with music, elephants, explosions, lots of moving parts and, of course, dancers, these 30 minute original films will prime audiences for the fabulous live entertainment to follow, and compel them to return to see the other two while on-board the ship !
For Movie Night, we have a special tighter version, “Celebrity Studios” – A magical fly in to a Celebrity Cruises backlot, with a cavalcade of famous hollywood backdrops, props, and scenery being pulled aside as we push in, finally settling into an amazing movie screen reveal !

“My Celebrity Moment”
My Celebrity Moment
Have you ever wondered what it feels like to be a rockstar singing to a crowd of 50,000 roaring fans, an NFL quarterback throwing the winning pass at the Super Bowl, a pitcher on the mound at Yankee Stadium, a world famous conductor of a symphony orchestra, a movie star walking the red carpet at the Oscars, a fashion model on the runway in Paris? If you are a passenger on Celebrity Beyond, you can now have that moment. As you take the stage at the center of the theater on Beyond, we will give you a Celebrity Moment of your choice – a fully immersive, high production value, bespoke experience in which you are at the center of your Celebrity Fantasy. We will create environments and narratives that put a passenger in a high stakes, high power moment of their choosing, replete with the visuals, the sounds, the feeling in the air, and the excitement of a dream coming true.
My Celebrity Moment offers opportunities for partnerships with organizations, media companies, personalities and brands that become a part of the narrative for your passengers’ Celebrity moments
If you are having too much fun at the Roof Deck Bar, you might want to get a selfie you can post on Instagram of you with the backdrop of a Celebrity Moment, and those photos can be made into a montage for screens all over the ship, #myCelebrityMoment, or if you are dancing the night away at the Club, you might see on the screens all the Celebrity Moments that happened through the day, and yours might be one of them!

#MyCelebrityMoment: Staffed Version
Each celebrity moment has six steps and takes 9 minutes to execute from entry to exit.
- Passenger enters the theater and is greeted by a Celebrity Press Agent.
- With this Agent, Passenger selects their Celebrity Moment and moves to Wardrobe.
- At Wardrobe they are greeted by their Celebrity Coach, who assists with Wardrobe selection while coaching the passenger through their upcoming Celebrity moment.
- Once in Wardrobe, the Passenger’s selected Celebrity Moment is uploaded, the Passenger gives their recording device to the Celebrity Director, who will film their Celebrity Moment for them, Passenger then moves to the stage with their Celebrity Coach, who ensures they feel great with a brief rehearsal, and the Celebrity Director counts them into their moment, calling Action.
- Passenger experiences their Celebrity Moment (DURATION: 1 minute) filmed on their personal device by the Celebrity Director, chunking the filming into two :30 shots, and 2 still photos.
- Passenger is escorted off stage by the Celebrity Director, collects their recording device, snaps a QR code that holds all social media post information for their Celebrity Moment, then Passenger leaves wardrobe items by the exit. ( We do recommend adding another Celebrity Press Agent to the exit moment, so that the Passenger can review their content before exiting.
Final note, as one Passenger moves from Wardrobe to the stage, the next Passenger moves from the selection kiosk to Wardrobe and so on, so that about 30 – 40 people can move through the experience each hour. The entire Passenger Celebrity Moment experience will be timed out so that the Passenger spends 3 minutes in Wardrobe, 3 minutes on stage with one minute of filming, and 3 minutes maximum to exit.
#MyCelebrityMoment: Fully Automated Version
Props only, no wardrobe
- Passenger enters the theater and approaches the Kiosk. On the Kiosk is a spokesperson greeting video that tells the Passenger how to select their moment, and what they can expect from the experience.
- Passenger selects their Celebrity Moment, then selects the corresponding prop from the props and moves to the stage queue.
- For every five people assembled, we will then see another spokesperson video, this time coming from the big screen, that tells the Passengers what is about to happen, that they are going to hear a countdown, that they will want to start on and return to the same mark, and that they will hear a beep (or some other tone) at :10 to finish to bring them back to their starting mark. The spokesperson will also cue the Passenger to remember to give their recording device to a friend so the friend can capture the excitement of the Celebrity Moment. The spokesperson also tells the Passenger to walk the stage, and to find their starting mark – a Celebrity Beyond Star at center stage.
- Then, one after the other, Passengers stands on their mark for the countdown, hears ACTION from the screen, and then is free to roam the stage during their Celebrity Moment Experience (DURATION: 1 minute) filmed on their personal device by their friend, who is chunking the filming into two :30 shots, and 2 still photos.
- Passenger moves offstage, drops their props in a collection box, snaps a QR code that holds all social media post information for their Celebrity Moment, then Passenger leaves the theater.
This allows the potential recording of up to 30 people per hour.
Please note that we can also do a hybrid approach, with one live staff member, and videos of spokespeople.

“Immersive painting”
Immersive Painting – Generative Content, Light, Scoring and Interactivity !
Imagine, with the wave of a digital paintbrush, the entire theater comes alive! An amazing cloud of woven light bursts across the stage. Gorgeous musical tones and soundscape moves through and around the room with each “stroke,” while the lighting system joyfully participates, moving, changing color, and flashing. All of these elements act in unison to create a passenger driven immersive expression.
Find your inner child! Each passenger can select from an array of painting “palettes”. Paint a gorgeous garden of supernatural flowers, streaks of rainbow light, metallic intricate weaves. Each passenger can select their audio visual language, and with the gestures of the tracked digital brush, turn the theater into an incredible atelier of a whole new artform, creating an original piece of immersive art.
This spectacular engagement combines the impact of the current trend in immersive experience of art (think the Van Gogh exhibit) but now layered with scoring, lighting, and driven solely by passenger participation. These incredible compositions can be stored and shared throughout the day to the screens in the Club, or the Roof Garden screen!

Performance Backdrops
Not just content – It’s scenery !
Beyond Simple Content – Three Dimensional, Digital Scenery
MODE’s fundamental belief is that scenic content is MOST importantly… SCENIC.
A backdrop for brilliance, A home for performance !
MODE will create evocative, activated, realistically rendered scenery for Beyond’s variety performance. Whether it is an aerial act, a comedian, a band, or an onboard talent show, MODE will provide a flexible library of backdrops that will perfectly suit the need. Using incredibly detailed CG models, and powerul compositing of light and atmosphere, we will produce a repertory of backdrops that leave the audience wondering “Is it real?”
At the same time we know that backdrops are for… The back. These won’t be the ‘STARS’ of your show, but they will provide the perfect setting for your variety performers to get the “star treatment”.
Corporate Backdrop
Architetural, Scenic, and Flexible
An Architectural Approach
MODE suggests drawing from and reflecting the stunning architecture of the Beyond Theater.
Using the forms and shapes of the theater, MODE will create activated architectural content layers that afford the ability to move, multiply, and suggest scenic depth.
All layers would be produced with alpha channels, malleable color correction to match lighting and palette, and constructed to afford subtle movement and activation
Variable Style Layers
In addition to constructs portraying the main proscenium “frame” additional evocative shape layer objects will be provided to create a sense of multiple scenic layers. Used together or alone, they allow for differentiation of sessions, meetings, and flexibility of look and feel. This example provides a layer look with a denser pattern of the curved aperture. Visible behind it, a background layer that can be a gradient, solid color, or any content look, such as the star drop shown.
Floating Screen Layers
Screen layers for featuring meeting content, or live camera IMAG can be positioned flexibly. Either one center screen layer, dual side screen layers, “3 Up” – Celebrity and the meeting organizers can pick or create new custom arrangements with our corporate background “kit”
Screen layers would use Pandora’s live input capability to route cameras, external playback devices like laptops with Powerpoint or Keynote, or content loaded to the server itself.
